SVO 5137
Blc. Picotee Flight 'SVO' x Pot. Laughing Magic 'SVO'
These are going to be bright yellow with red flares on the petals.  Picotee Flight (Blc. Horizon Flight x Blc. Love Sound) has great shape and color on a compact plant.  The Laughing Magic (Blc. Laughing Boy x Slc. Fire Magic) is a bright yellow with fantastic red flares also on a compact plant.   I am really looking forward to seeing this bloom.

Blc. Charmed Life (Blc. Chyong Guu Chaffinch 'Ta Hsia' AM/AOS x Blc. Izumi Charm 'SVO' AM/AOS)

What a great cross this is!  Large yellow flowers of excellent shape well supported above the foliage.   Plants will mature at 14-16” tall, so it's a standard sized plant, but it will begin to bloom in 4” pots.  I wanted to name this cross Blc. Chyong Guu Chaffinch Charm…..but I was talked out of it!   First to bloom picture

SVO 5203
Lc. Mildred Rives 'Orchidglade' FCC/AOS x Lc. Tokyo Magic '6-1' AM/AOS
This grex has the genetic material to make for some exceptional offspring. I am expecting robust plants with compact growth maturing at 12” tall, possible a bit more.  Strong stems will hold the 4-6 flowers above the foliage.  Flower will range in color from white to lavender/pink and there is a possibility of a light yellow, all will have dark crimson lips. I am looking forward to seeing this bloom.

SVO 5229
L. tenebrosa v. aurea 'SVO'  x  L. tenebrosa v. alba 'Thonhauser's Treasure'
To the best of my knowledge, this is a first: the pairing of an aurea with an alba L. tenebrosa.  Will some be true semi-albas, white flowers with purple lips?  Or will they be aureas?  Or possibly revert back to a more typical color form?  I'm not sure.  The foliage on the young plants is not exhibiting dark pigmentation like a typical tenebrosa, and this might be a clue to the flower color.  If some come out with white flowers and purple lips, how awesome would that be?  No promises here, but as the old saying goes, “Nothing ventured nothing gained.”

Lc. Spring Fires 'Lenette #1' x Slc. Circle of Life 'Mesmerize' AM/AOS
I have been using Spring Fires (Lc. Fires of Spring x Lc. Fire Island) as a parent quite a bit lately.  It has strong upright stems carrying 5-9 showy red flowers with darker red lips AND typically blooms for Valentine's Day.  Circle of Life has many successful hybrids to its credit and is dominant for flower shape in breeding.  We expect the offspring to have good stem strength, holding 3-5 red flowers nicely above the foliage.  Plants will be mature at 8-10” tall and flower well in 4” pots.  An excellent cross!

SVO 5430
Slc. Final Touch 'Lemon Chiffon' AM/AOS  x  Blc. Izumi Charm 'SVO' AM/AOS
Final Touch (Slc. California Apricot x Lc. Drumbeat) is a well formed 4” yellow flower with red lip produced on a compact plant. Izumi Charm (Blc. Love Sound x Lc. Melody Fair) is a compact but tall grower, the 5-7, light yellow flowers with contrasting dark crimson lips are held above the foliage.  With this grex we are looking for larger and yellow flowers with wide full petals and crimson colored lips with good stems that hold and arrange the flowers above the foliage.  A great hybrid for yellow flowers and red lips.

Slc. Pure Love 'Be Mine' HCC/AOS  x  Lc. Spring Fires 'Lenette #3'
Here we've taken the mini-catt Pure Love (Slc. Seagulls Apricot x Blc. Love Sound), a grex that's produced many high-quality offspring with sunset-colored flowers on mini plants, and crossed it to (Lc. Fires of Spring x Lc. Fire Island), which has strong upright stems carrying 5-9 red flowers with darker red lips.  We expect to get plants that are very compact, about 8-10” tall, and bloom with 5-7 red-orange blossoms on strong stems that present the flowers above the foliage.  This is where 'big meets small,' and the offspring are in-between.

SVO 5439
Lc. Lake Tahoe 'Blue Lake' HCC/AOS  x  Lc. Cornelia v. coerulea 'Floralia'
These are going to be nice large-flowered blues on compact plants standing only 6-7” tall.  Lake Tahoe (Lc. Floralia's Azul x L. sincorana) carries 2-3 well-formed flowers that are light blue with a darker blue lip.  Cornelia (C. labiata x C. pumila) breeds for large flower size and dark blue lips on a plant with a compact stature.  There is a lot of good genetics behind this cross.

SVO 5446
Blc. Fantasy Love 'Splish Splash' Blc. Love Blush 'Love Blush'
Fantasy Love (Blc. Fordyce Fantasy x Blc. Love Sound) has yellow flowers of excellent form with a red flare and Picotee around the margin of the petals. Love Blush (Blc. Love Sound x Blc. Picotee Passion) is a light yellow flower with a light red-rose blush around the margin of the floral segments; the flowers are well supported and from a cluster of 7-9 blooms a very pleasing and beautiful arrangement of flowers.   These will have nice heads of flowers with as many as 7-8 blooms, color will be mostly yellows with many having flares and blushing of soft red and pink colors on the petals.

SVO 5490
Pot. Love Passion 'Dogashima'  Blc. Guess What 'SVO' AM/AOS
Bright orange flowers are hard to come by, so this was a natural cross to make. Love Passion (Lc. Trick or Treat x Slc. William Farrell) a true orange flower produced 7 to 9 on a strong stem.  Guess What (Lc. Trick or Treat x Blc. Waikiki Gold) has an intense orange-gold flower color; it is just a fantastic color!  Guess What also produces 7 to 9 well displayed flowers above the foliage.  These are going to have strong stems of bright orange flowers held high. I really like this style of breeding, they make excellent display plants.

SVO 5493
Slc. Tokyo Life 'SVO' HCC/AOS  x  Lc. Spring Fires 'Lenette #3'
Strong stems of well-formed flowers in bright colors on compact plants have been a long-standing goal of mine.  This grex of Tokyo Life (Slc. Circle of Life x Lc. Tokyo Magic) crossed with Spring Fires (Lc. Fires of Spring x Lc. Fire Island) is going to give us just that.  These are going to flower in early March, and I expect them to be excellent.

SVO 5495
Pot. Love Passion 'Dogashima'  x  Blc. Carolina Orange D'or 'Krull-Smith' AM/AOS
This grex is similar to SVO 5499, here we used Love Passion 'Dogashima' (Lc. Trick or Treat x Slc. William Farrell) a true orange flower produced 7 to 9 on a strong stem. Carolina Orange D'Or (Carolina Golden D'Or x Blc. Malworth) a deep orange with excellent shape.  These will have good stems producing big clusters of bright orange flowers to bloom in March, and will be real show stoppers.

SVO 5499
Pot. Love Passion 'Island Romance'  x  Blc. Carolina Orange D'or 'Krull-Smith' AM/AOS
I really like this style of breeding, and this grex is similar to SVO 5495 but with Love Passion 'Island Romance' (Lc. Trick or Treat x Slc. William Farrell), a true orange flower with a touch of red in the lip and 7 to 9 blooms on a strong stem.  Carolina Orange D'Or (Carolina Golden D'Or x Blc. Malworth) is a deep orange with excellent shape.  Good stems producing big clusters of bright orange flowers to bloom in March.  Should make stunning display plants!

Blc. Bouton D'or 'Halcyon' AM/AOS x  Blc. Hawaiian Discovery 'Fluorescent Orange' HCC/AOS
Bouton D'or 'Halcyon' (Lc. Wolteriana x Blc. Buttercup) was awarded in 1972.  The flowers were described as golden yellow with overtones of apricot.  To date, 135 registered hybrids have been made with this exceptional parent, with 32 of them being awarded.  Bouton D'or has made a place for itself in breeding.  Hawaiian Discovery (Blc. Orange Nuggett x Blc. Bouton D'Or) has well-shaped flowers that are a remarkable fluorescent orange flower and held in a cluster just above the foliage.  Here we are breeding for nicely-shaped bright orange flowers that are held above the foliage.

SVO 5503
Lc. Mem. Alberto Wenzel 'SVO'  x  C. loddigesii 'Aranda B' HCC/AOS
Here is a different hybrid, there are just 3 species represented with this grex.  Mem. Alberto Wenzel (C. schroderae x L. alaorii) produces a plant and flowers that look a bit like a miniature C. schroderae with light pink petals and sepals with an orange-yellow spot in the throat.  This loddigesii has flowers that are really well formed with wide flat petals with the yellow in the lip.  These will be pinks flowers with yellow lips and golden throats. Flower from should be flat and full.  This is a very interesting direction in breeding with this second generation L. alaorii hybrid.

C. Little Dipper 'Sato' 4n x self

Little Dipper (C. Angelwalker x C. Batalinii) is a flared flower that has 32 hybrids to its credit with ten being awarded an impressive statistic.  This grex is hard to come by these days and 'Sato' is virused, so what to do…self it.  The offspring have grown very well and are virus free.  A great flared Cattleya with a long modern history of great hybrids to its credit.

Frank Fordyce was the first to successfully breed using Horizon Flight (C. intermedia x Blc.
