Blc. NEW HYBRID (Blc. Picotee Passion 'SVO' AM/AOS x Lc. Bryan Wheeler 'Grandson' AM/AOS)

What a beautiful flower Picotee Passion (Blc. Horizon Flight x L. anceps) has!  The soft color, light yellow splash and lavender picotee are so nice.  Check out the Picture 4064.  The 5-7 flowers are produced above the foliage on sturdy stems.  Bryan Wheeler (Lc. Irene Finney x Lc. Harold Carlson) has impressive blooms: 4 large rose-lavender flowers splashed dark purple with a full ruffled dark purple lip.  Flowers are presented beautifully on a robust 15” inflorescence.  This cross is going to have excellent flower presentation with sturdy stems about 12” long displaying 4-5 large blooms.  Flowers will be full-shaped in lavender-rose with varied amounts of flaring and full ruffled lips.  This is a great combination, and the plants are very robust.

Blc. NEW HYBRID (Blc. Guess What 'SVO' AM/AOS x Lc. Trick or Trick 'Orange Magic' AM/AOS)

Every spring I enjoy seeing Lc. Trick or Treat and its hybrids bloom.  Guess What (Blc. Waikiki Gold x Lc. Trick or Treat) has vibrant orange-yellow flowers in cluster of 8-9 on strong stems and is one of my favorite breeders.  Trick or Treat (L. Icarus x Lc. Chit Chat) produces amazing heads of 15 or more starry orange flowers from vigorous growing plants and has been an important parent.  These are showing great vigor, and the plants are very robust.  We expect large heads of starry, brightly-colored yellow-orange flowers on plants that are easy to grow and bloom.

Blc. NEW HYBRID (Blc. Kaboom 'SVO' x Blc. William Farrell 'Native Son' )

Kaboom (Blc. Guess What x Blc. Schroder's Love) is a great plant with a compact growing habit and strong upright stems holding 6-7 large, well-arranged bright yellow flowers. William Farrell (Slc. Helen Veliz x Bc. Llano) 'Native Son' holds 5-6 beautiful well-arranged soft peach flowers on strong stems above the foliage.  This combination will make for impressive offspring with 5-7 well-arranged flowers of excellent form on strong stems.  Soft pastel flower colors will prevail. A very high potential cross.

Pot. ChocoBerry Fondue (Pot. Ryo Iwata 'Leucadia' HCC/AOS x C. Chocolate Drop 'SVO' AM/AOS)

When we first made ChocoBerry Fondue we were a bit uncertain how this pairing would work.  That uncertainty vanished quickly when the first plants began to bloom.  Plants carry spectacular waxy red flowers with heavy substance and a spicy fragrance in August and September.  When matured the upright stems carry 7-9 flowers – really fantastic!  It took a while, but finally we are able to offer an exact remake of the original cross.  This is an example of the 2nd flowering from the first cross Picture   Also available as SVO 7437. I was so intent on making this again that I did it twice!

Naranja en Flor    (Lc. Trick or Treat 'Orange Magic' AM/AOS x Lc. Spring Fires 'Lenette #1')

The name of this grex, Naranja en Flor, is Spanish for “Orange in Flower.”  I was so excited by the potential that I made this cross twice this year!  Over the years, I have been impressed by the breeding qualities of both Trick or Treat and Spring Fires.  I am so confident that these will turn out great, I'll bet money!  And I'm not a gambling man…  These will have strong stems holding 10-15 or more starry orange to red flowers above the foliage in March.  Mature plants will be 14-16” tall and produce a spectacular display.  How's that for confidence in a prediction?  The reciprocal is available as SVO 7486.

Blc. NEW HYBRID (Blc. Fordyce Fantasy 'SVO Best' x Blc. Guess What 'SVO' AM/AOS)

Fordyce Fantasy (Blc. Horizon Flight x C. aurantiaca) is a remarkable hybrid first made by the late Frank Fordyce. The robust plants produce strong stems holding 5-7 flowers in a clear lemon yellow with a purple triangular splash and a purple/red picotee on the petals.  Guess What (Blc. Waikiki Gold x Lc. Trick or Treat) is a favorite breeder for its clusters of 8-9 vibrant orange-yellow flowers on strong stems.  The expectation for these is 5-9 bright orange flowers with red flares carried well on strong stems. I'll keep it short and sweet – this is a great pairing!

Pot. NEW HYBRID (Blc. Carolina Orange D'or 'Krull -Smith' AM/AOS x Pot. Love Passion 'Dogashima')

I believe the 'Krull-Smith' cultivar ofCarolina Orange D'Or (Carolina Golden D'Or x Blc. Malworth) is the best of the cross.  It blooms with deep orange flowers of excellent shape and substance.  Love Passion (Lc. Trick or Treat x Slc. William Farrell) 'Dogashima' has very bright orange flowers, is a vigorous grower, and its strong stems hold 7-11 well-displayed blooms.  The objective of this well-thought-out pairing is to produce 5-9 bright orange flowers on sturdy stems.  Plants will be robust and flower in March.  An outstanding cross!

Blc. NEW HYBRID (Blc. Bouton D'or 'Halcyon' AM/AOS x Blc. Guess What 'SVO' AM/AOS)

Bouton D'Or (C. Wolteriana x Blc. Buttercup) is a famous orange and a well-respected parent. The flowers have good shape and color, and the plants are very robust growers and reliable bloomers. Guess What (Blc. Waikiki Gold x Lc. Trick or Treat) is a favorite breeder of mine.  It's dominant for vibrant orange-yellow flower on strong stems carrying clusters of 8-9 blooms.  This is one of those “you have to make it” crosses, and we expect these to have 5-9 well-held flowers in bright orange.

Blc. NEW HYBRID (Blc. Bouton D'or 'Halcyon' AM/AOS x Blc. Kaboom 'SVO')

Bouton D'Or (C. Wolteriana x Blc. Buttercup) is a famous orange and a well-respected parent. The flowers have good shape and color, and the plants are very robust growers and reliable bloomers.  Kaboom (Blc. Guess What x Blc. Schroder's Love) is a modern hybrid with a compact plant habit and strong upright stems holding 6-7 large well-formed and well-arranged bright yellow flowers.  So what are we expecting?  How about 5-7 mostly yellow flowers, some with an orange cast, all with excellent shape and full lips on sturdy stems.  Very nice!

Pot. NEW HYBRID (Slc. Golden Treat 'SVO' x Blc. Guess What 'SVO' AM/AOS)

Golden Treat (Slc. Golden Wax x Lc. Trick or Treat) was a hybrid I made some 30 years ago.  It is as spectacular today as it was back then, producing big heads of waxy red flowers with darker red lips.  Guess What (Blc. Waikiki Gold x Lc. Trick or Treat) is a favorite breeder of ours, as you can tell by the number of Guess What crosses we made this year.  It imparts vibrant orange-yellow flowers with strong stems of 8-9 well-arranged flowers.  This cross is designed to produce impressive heads of flowers, almost like red and yellow pom-poms.  Stunning display plants will result from this cross.

Carolina Orange D'Or (Carolina Golden D'Or x Blc. Malworth) has deep orange flowers with excellent shape and substance. Guess What (Blc. Waikiki Gold x Lc. Trick or Treat) is one of our favorite breeding plants and is dominant for clusters of 8-9 vibrant orange-yellow flowers on strong stems.  Excellent orange flowers will be produced from this pairing, with strong stems of 5-9 flowers being the norm.

Pot. Linda Vee (Lc. Trick or Treat 'Orange Magic' AM/AOS x Pot Love Passion 'Island Romance')

Trick or Treat is a great parent for clusters of orange flowers.  It is a vigorous grower, bloom reliably in March.  Love Passion (William Farrell x Lc. Trick or Treat) resembles a “super” Trick or Treat with larger flowers.  So why breed it back to Trick or Treat?  We expect this combination to improve flower count, with each inflorescence holding 14-16 bright orange blooms high above the foliage.  Very impressive!

Lc. Spring Fires (Lc. Spring Fires 'Lenette' #3' x Lc. Spring Fires 'Lenette #1')

Spring Fires (Lc. Fires of Spring x Lc. Fire Island) flowers with strong stems of red flowers and darker red lips.  It has proven to be a useful breeding plant with many great crosses to its credit. I have two cultivars that I use interchangeably, and this is a sibling cross between them.  I know some of the other Spring Fires cultivars have had flower with a burnt orange color and red lips.  This sibling cross should bring out the potential color variation of this hybrid.  A unique opportunity to get your own special cultivar of this grex.

Pot. NEW HYBRID (Slc. Golden Wax 'Lone Star II' HCC/AOS x Blc. Guess What 'SVO' AM/AOS)

Golden Wax (Slc. Kauai Starbright x C. Chocolate Drop) 'Lone Star II' produces a big head of waxy pure yellow flowers.  Guess What (Blc. Waikiki Gold x Lc. Trick or Treat), with its 8-9 well-displayed bright orange-yellow flowers, is an important parent in our breeding program.  This cross is all about big clusters of flowers, and we expect 10-15 blooms in bright yellow colors held nicely above the foliage.

Blc. NEW HYBRID (Blc. Hawaiian Discovery 'Fluorescent Orange' HCC/AOS x Blc. Bouton D'Or 'Cherokee')

Hawaiian Discovery (Blc. Orange Nuggett x Blc. Bouton D'Or) has flowers with amazing orange color - 'Fluorescent Orange' to be exact!  Bouton D'Or (C. Wolteriana x Blc. Buttercup) is the parent of Hawaiian Discovery, making this cross an example of line breeding.  Here we are aiming to reinforce the desirable qualities of good flower form, vivid color and robust, upright plant habit.  Look for these to have clusters of 5-6 well-shaped bright orange flowers held high above the foliage on sturdy stems.
