SVO 1330

Lc. Walkerinter
(C. walkeriana v. alba ‘Pendentive' AM/AOS x C. intermedia v. aquinii ‘SVO' HCC/AOS)

This is a great mini-catt. I make this cross every few years, it reliably produces superior flower quality and blooms in the month of March.

SVO 1334

Blc. Picotee Passion
(Blc. Horizon Flight ‘Happy Landing' JC/AOS x L. anceps v. alba ‘Bulls')

Horizon Flight has made many excellent hybrids and Picotee Passion in just one of them. Originally made by Frank Fordyce this remake is using the alba form of anceps. I am expecting the Horizon Flight to dominate for yellow color and flares with anceps giving its stem and hardiness. Superb, not to be missed, limited.

SVO 1336

Pot. Solid Gold
(Pot. Twentyfour Carat ‘Lea' AM/AOS x Blc. Love Sound ‘Dogashima' AM/AOS)

Five to six, solid golden yellow flowers produced on good stems from compact plants, blooming in February and March.

SVO 1337

(Pot. Twentyfour Carat ‘Lea' AM/AOS x Lc. Tokyo Magic ‘6-1' AM/AOS)

A similar cross Pot. Solid Gold, however with Tokyo Magic (Lc. Irene Finney x L. briegeri) in place of Love Sound there is the potential to for larger flowers due the Irene Finney influence, there will also be some red in the lips.

SVO 1338

(Lc. Tropical Pointer 'Amethysto' HCC/AOS x Lc. Jungle Elf 'Cheryl Lynn' 4n)

This is breeding looking for the elusive bright yellow flower with red spotting. This could very well be what we have been waiting for. Small plants 6-8” tall with 4-6 flowers.

Similar to 1269, this Jillian Lee (Sc. Beaufort x Sl. Orpetii) has solid red flowers of excellent shape. The Mini Pet will assure good shape and solid red color. Blooming in 3” pots.

SVO 1344

(Lc. Tropical Sunset ‘Ocean Heaven' x Lc. Tropical Song ‘Calypso' )

Reciprocal of SVO 1291

SVO 1345

Slc. Circle of Life 'Trailblazer' AM/AOS x (Pot. Ryo Iwata x Blc. San Diego Sunset) 'SVO Best')

The superior form of Circle of Life combined with the strong stem and deep red flowers of ‘SVO Best' will produce full formed flowers on stronger stems held above the foliage. These are going to be larger plants 12-16” tall with an impressive floral display.

SVO 1346

(Blc. Waianae Leopard x C. Landate) 'SVO' x C. Mark Jones ‘SVO' HCC/AOS)

SVO 1348

Slc. Seagulls Apricot
(Slc. California Apricot ‘Orange Circle' HCC/AOS x Soph. coccinea ‘Full Circle' 4n)

This is a re-make of an important mini-catt breeder. Here I used a coccinea that is easy growing and tolerant of Southern California summer heat. These have been blooming in 3” pots. Striking, bright orange/red flowers are full shaped and easy to bloom.

SVO 1353

(Lc. Tokyo Magic ‘6-1” AM/AOS x Blc. Izumi Charm ‘Bright Yellow”)

A nice and predictable cross, well shaped yellow flowers with red lips produced on strong upright inflorescences caring the 5-7 flowers above the foliage. Compact growing to bloom in March.

(Lc. Tokyo Magic ‘6-1” AM/AOS x Slc. Wasp Nest ‘SVO' HCC/AOS)

Wasp Nest (Lc. Trick or Treat x Slc. Tangerine Jewel) can carry 12 deep red flowers above the foliage. Expecting 7-9 flowers from orange to red on strong stems. These will make good show plants, blooms in March

SVO 1359

(Lc. Floralia's Azul v. coerulea ‘Sandra' AM/AOS x C. lueddemanniana v. coerulea 'Kathleen')

Floralia's Azul is a great blue, blooms twice a year, carries 4-5 flowers and is only 8” tall. The addition of the lueddemanniana with its well shaped, 6” flowers will give us improved flower size while still keeping the plants under 10” tall. This is really exciting blue breeding; big flowers, good shape, and blooming in March and April, which is early for most blue hybrids. Don't miss out on these.

SVO 1361

Lc. Mini Song
(Lc. Mari's Song ‘CTM 217' HCC/AOS x Lc. Mini Purple ‘Full Figure' HCC/AOS)

This is also a cross I re-make every few years; these are reliable growers and bloomers. Excellent full shaped lavender flowers with darker purple flares. Very nice.

SVO 1362

(Lc. Garrett Collins ‘SVO' x Lc. Mini Song ‘SVO')

Garrett Collins (C. Little Dipper x Lc. Mini Purple) has large dark purple flowers with darker purple flares on plants 8” tall and Mini Song will complement the cross. Expect large, 4” dark purple flowers with deep purple flares and full round shape.

Orange Treat (Blc. Orange Nugget x Lc. Trick or Treat) has waxy, bright orange flowers on a nice stem. Orange Sherbet (C. schroderae x Lc. Orange Beauty) has a good stem caring 5-7 orange flowers measuring 4” across. This breeding is for true orange flowers with improved size, shape, and flower count. A great orange flower in March.

SVO 1405

C. Landate
(C. leopoldii v. coerulea ‘Kathleen' JC/AOS x C. aclandiae v. coerulea ‘Blue Sky' HCC/AOS)

Until now bifoliate blue hybrids are almost non existent. I am quite sure this is the first Landate made with blue parents. Expect the 5-7 flowers to have coerulea lips and columns with light green petals and sepals and a few spots. Very collectable, don't miss out on these.

SVO 1406

C. Landate
(C. leopoldii v. albina ‘SVO' x C. aclandiae v. coerulea ‘Blue Sky' HCC/AOS)

Here we used the albina form of leopoldii with white petals, sepals and lip and a few light colored spots, breeding it to ‘Blue Sky' will result very pale forms of Landate. What ever happens these will be unique and collectable.

SVO 1428

C. Brabantiae
(C. loddigesii v. coerulea ‘Blue Sky' AM/AOS x C. aclandiae v. coerulea ‘Blue Sky' HCC/AOS)

As with the Landate, I am quite sure this is the first Brabantiae made with blue parents. Loddigesii has a solid light blue flower and a darker blue lip with a yellow throat. Hoping for light blue flowers dark blue lip with a touch of yellow and a few faint spots. Very collectable, don't miss out on these.

SVO 1446

(Dialc. Silver Heart ‘SVO' x Lc. Hsinying Excell ‘SVO')

Silver Heart is one of my recent Diacrium (Caularthron) hybrids; its pink flowers are very shapely and carried above the foliage in groups of 7-9. Hsinying Excell has very attractive flowers that are nicely formed and deeply flared. I believe Hsinying Excell will give good results as L. briegeri is its immediate parent, like the proven breeders, Blc. Love Sound and Lc. Tokyo Magic. Well shaped flowers pink with dark flares on good stems and compact plants.

SVO 1454

(Slc. Jungle Gem ‘Yellow Jacket' x C. Mark Jones ‘SVO' HCC/AOS)

Large yellow flowers with red spots are hard to come by. This hybrid combines the yellow flowers and spots of Jungle Gem and flower size and spotting of Mark Jones. I have a similar earlier cross SVO 972. The first to flowers have been very pleasing, shapely yellows with red spots produced 3-4 per stem. If yellow flowers with red spots intrigue you don't miss this one.

SVO 1462A

C. bicolor
(C. bicolor ‘Beta' x C. bicolor ‘Green Magic' AM/AOS)

C. bicolor is one of my favorite Cattleya species; both ‘Beta' and ‘Green Magic' are well known they each have green flowers with red lips. An earlier cross has already produced an AOS award. These are very desirable and not often offered, here is your chance.

SVO 1470

(Lc. Ruby Cheer ‘SVO' HCC/AOS x Lc. Maui Plum ‘Volcano Queen' AM/AOS)

Summer blooming bifoliates of this category are rarely offered for sale. These will be tall plants, 24” is to be expected. Both plants are spectacular bloomers with big heads of waxy flowers, lots of C. leopoldii in the back ground of both. Ruby Cheer will give size and Maui Plum will space the flowers out on the stem. Recommended.

SVO 1497

(Epi. conopseum 'SVO' x Epi. xanthinum 'Resplendent')

Here is a true mini Epi the plants are only 4-6” tall. These are really cute! The conopseum is cold hardy down to the 32 degrees and the xanthinum is a dwarf with heads of bright yellow flowers. Blooming in 3” pots. A very special Epi cross, don't miss this one.

SVO 1564

(Lc. Cornelia v. coerulea 'Floralia' x Lc. Love Knot v. coerulea 'SVO' HCC/AOS)

Cornelia (C. labiata x L. pumila) the ‘Floralia' plant is by far the best of the cross, large, full shaped light blues with a darker lip on an 8” plant the Love Knot (C. walkeriana x L. sincorana) flowers with a surprising 3 flowers which are very flat! L. sincorana is known for its ability to flatten the flower form. The expectation is for 2-3, flat flowers in blue with darker blue lips. This is a promising new mini blue hybrid.

SVO 1565

(Lc. Mari's Song ‘CTM 217' HCC/AOS x Slc. Seagulls Apricot ‘Full Circle')

Both flowers have very dominant breeding traits, Mari's Song for flaring and Seagulls Apricot for color, shape and plant size. I am hoping for red flowers with deep plum flares but this is an unusual combination; you have to take a chance once in a while.

SVO 1591

(Lc. Sacramento Rose ‘SVO' HCC/AOS x Sl. Mini Pet ‘SVO')

Sacramento Rose (Lc. Mini Purple x L. alaorii) 4” plants with 3” dark purple flowers! Mini Pet (Sl. Orpetii x Soph. coccinea) are deep red flowers of impressive form on 4” plants. These will be mature plants at 3-4” flowers of superior shape and deep plum red color, I am eagerly awaiting these as they are the first of the second generation of L. alaorii breeding. Limited

SVO 1605

(Blc. Love Sound ‘Fortissimo' HCC/AOS x Pot. Burana Angel ‘1 st ')

The virtues of Love Sound are well known, Burana Angel (Pot. Burana Beauty x Slc. Bright Angel) is a full shaped deep red with a deeper red flare and a nicely contrasting red and yellow lip. The expectation is for sunset colored flowers of great shape some with flaring on nice upright stems.

SVO 1623

(Lc. Dennis Olivas ‘Best' x Pot. Love Passion ‘Dogashima')

Dennis Olivas (C. Penny Kuroda x Lc. Trick or Treat) has big heads of 15 or more yellow flowers with dark red flares, it is spectacular. Love Passion (Blc. William Farrell x Lc. Trick or Treat) is like a really large flowered Trick or Treat. These will be large deep orange flowers on stems above the foliage with some being flared. The plants will mature at about 18-20” tall. Very showy to bloom in March.

SVO 1643

(Lc. Horizon Flight ‘Happy Landing' JC/AOS x Blc. Love Sound ‘Dogashima' AM/AOS)

Lc. Horizon Flight has produced many superior hybrids and so has Love Sound. Flowers of excellent shape with varying degrees of red flares on good stems. I have high expectations for this grex. Limited

SVO 1751

(Pot. Rubescence ‘SVO' AM/AOS x C. Orchidglade ‘SVO' HCC/AOS)

Rubescence (Blc. Oconee x Slc. Seagull Apricot) is just spectacular, large red flowers of excellent round form. Orchidglade (C. walkeriana x C. aurantiaca) blooms twice a year with clusters of showy orange flowers. An unusual paring, but very promising!

** Some pictures are representative of the cross and not actual parents.
