Standard Cattleyas
These standard size Cattleya’s will mature at 12” to 24” tall. They possess the similar growth habit of “Compact Cattleya’s”, just taller. These are bred to have strong stems caring 5 or more flowers and will be very impressive when blooming at mature size. These make excellent display plants for orchid shows and most will bloom during the spring show season.

Wasp Nest (Lc. Trick or Treat x Slc. Tangerine Jewel) produce 10-15 bright red-orange flowers. Love Passion (Lc. Trick or Treat x Pot. William Farrell) a true orange flower nicely shown above the foliage. With two shots of Lc. This cross is similar to the successful Blc. Brassy Gold; however the influence of Tokyo Magic will produce larger flowers and a wider range of flower color. Chocolate Drop (C. guttata x C. aurantiaca) a famous hybrid with clusters of waxy red flowers. Tokyo Magic (Lc. Slc. Golden Wax (Slc. Golden Wax 'Lone Star II' HCC/AOS x self)
Golden Wax (C. Chocolate Drop x Slc. Kauai Starbright) ‘Lone Star II’ produces big clusters of 15 or more waxy, bright yellow flowers. This selfing will reinforce the good qualities and bring out additional variations in flower color. A good vigorous grower and reliable bloomer in January, the plants will be 20” tall at maturity. C. Portia (C. bowringiana ‘Splendens’ AM/OS x L. labiata v. rubra ‘Schuller’s’)
C. Portia was a hybrid popular in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. It is an excellent grower as evidenced by its 11 Cultural Certificates of Merit. The ‘Splendens’ variety of C. bowringiana is a very fine form, with good heads of dark purple flowers. ‘Schuller’s’ is the dark rubra form, with excellent shape and flower count. Expect 9-11 dark purple flowers per stem. These are robust plants with a spectacular flower show on large growing plants. 3” pots. |

Golden Wax is (C. Chocolate Drop x Slc. Kauai Starbright). ‘Lone Star’ produced big clusters of 15 or more deep ruby red flowers. The plant ‘Lone Star II’ has big clusters of 15 or more waxy, bright yellow flowers. This sib cross will reinforce the good qualities and bring out flowers with a red, orange and yellow color.
